DESIGNER : Philippe Starck

Producer : Driade

In 1988, the Royalton Hotel in New York was completely renovated by Philippe Starck at the request of Ian Schrager, director of the chain. This chair is designed to furnish the lobby, lounges and restaurant of the hotel. It was produced by Driade between 1991 and 1995.

This piece is made of mahogany, just like a large part of the Hotel de New York. With the choice of this wood, the designer actually wanted to echo the American Navy, which is of great importance in the history of the city. In addition to the mahogany that makes up the piece and two of its legs, the third is made of cast aluminum.
