Hotelier Ian Schrager and entrepreneur Steve Rubell bought the Paramount Hotel in New York and commissioned French designer Philippe Starck to completely redesign the common areas. In 1989, the Paramount armchair was designed to furnish the interior, and since 1991 it has been published by Driade.
