DESIGNER : Philippe Starck

MANUFACTURER : VIA

The Ara stool, created by Philippe Starck in 1985 for the French publisher Valorisation de l'Innovation dans l'Ameublement, commonly known as VIA, was perceived by its contemporaries as a true innovation. Indeed, this is due to its particular design in skin-molded polyurethane. The shape of this model is also original since it consists of a stool turned over.

This piece is even more specific because the moldings made on its four sides were made from drawings made by Starck's daughter, Ara, when she was three years old. This certainly makes the piece personal to the designer.

The corners show signs of wear.
