César (Baldaccini) was a French sculptor born in 1921 and dead in 1998. He studied in Marseille in 1938 and in 1943, he joined « les beaux-arts » of Paris where he stayed during 11 years. He worked on iron and plaster until he learned welding tecnichs in 1949. He became a member of new realism movement in 1961. He is also famous for being the creator of the bronze trophy from the French Cesar ceremony.
